  This dissertation draws attention to the fact that today’s presumably heterogeneous environment reveals a specific homogeneity of thought whose source and effects remain opaque for the contemporary subject. As a result, the question of sex and gender despite its growing political influence demonstrates specific theoretic fragility. Resorting to Lacanian theory of sexuation and its most recent development, this dissertation explores both its theoretical possibilities and its position within current philosophical debates.

  The work of the theorist and psychoanalyst Alexander Smulansky is dedicated to the analysis of the situation where contemporary subject emerges and speaks. For more than a decade Smulansky was running a monthly seminar “Lakan-likbez”: the course aimed at surmounting what has become the traditional commentary level of dealing with Lacanian psychoanalysis. It eventually established its status as an autonomous, sought-after event with numerous followers. Here we present several lectures with English subtitles.
