READING ALTHUSSER

2nd November – conference, dedicated to Louis Althusser. Today, Althusser’s thought maintains its specific relevance prompting various discourses – psychoanalytic, Marxist, philosophical, or political – to reconsider their strategies and reformulate their problems. The intellectual resurgence of the interest in Althusser’s theory was largely initiated by the posthumous publication of his later works, yet thus revealed “epistemological gap” itself is not the reason for Althusser's reincarnation; we should rather ask why his theory is needed again now. Therefore, our conference aims at answering the question: What is going on with Althusser’s thought? What does READING ALTHUSSER mean today?
